adding do action in a theme with a plugin

    Hi,
    is it possible to add a do action in a theme with a plugin?
    I would like to add the hook without modify the theme that in a next update could be overwritten.
    I created a plugin with some of my customization and setting and i would like to make the theme addition (the do action hook)from the plugin if is possible.
