Hello, I have been creating and setting up Web Stories for clients. I’ve had no issues adding the GA Tracking code to my client accounts.

Until recently, typically in settings there’s a place to paste in the tracking ID. On 2 new accounts, there’s no box to enter the ID number.

When I click on the settings the only thing available are 2 checkboxes with the following options.

    `Data Sharing Opt-in

Check the box to help us improve the Web Stories plugin by allowing tracking of product usage stats. All data are treated in accordance with Google Privacy Policy.
    Video Optimization

Automatically optimize videos used in Web Stories. We recommend enabling this feature. Video files that are too large or have an unsupported format (like .mov) will otherwise not display properly.`

What am I missing? Thank you for any insight into this “issue” I’m seeing.

  • Hi @meangreenchef and thanks for getting in touch. This is likely due to the fact that on these sites in particular, the user account you are logged into WordPress with do not have Administrator rights. Some settings in the Web Stories plugin are restricted to just Admin users.

Currently, only a user with Administrator will have access to all Web Stories settings. Author and Editor users will see the two settings you are seeing now so I presume your account falls under one of these user roles. The contributor role only has access to the Data Sharing Opt-in option.

Hope this helps to explain why you are seeing this and please do let me know if you have any further questions.
