adding new theme to dashboard

    I downloaded a new theme.
    unzipped into a folder.
    copied the folder to ….wordpress/themes.
    when I try to find it in dashboard themes it dose not show up.
    (only 2 show 2010 & 2011)
    I tried ‘serch installed themes’, also ‘install themes’ search neither one could find the folder.
    did I screw up somehow ?

    So the theme files are in a folder under /wordpress/wp-content/themes? And if you open that folder, do you see the styles.css, index.php, etc?

    Did you try installing the theme from the WordPress dashboard? That could be easier for you.

    Index.html. not php but the css file is there.
    I’m fairly new to wp, so pls bare with me.
    I tried install the zip file to the dashboard and got:-
    [The package could not be installed. The style.css stylesheet doesn’t contain a valid theme header.]
