Adding PHP to a Post

I am trying to get an ajax star rating plugin to work with wordpress. and i am trying to add it to each individual page that i create. but when i try to add the code

<?php rating_bar(‘1’,5); ?> via code view when i am writing the page, it basically gets deleted. how can i make this work>?
