Adding Widgets?

    First of all, I’m brand new to all of this so forgive me if it’s a silly question. I was using wordpress.com prior to this, so I’m used to certain things. There aren’t nearly as many widgets as I’m used to. Is this something controlled by the theme or otherwise? Same with plugins, if I want sharing plugins, that’s unrelated to theme correct?

    Some themes include widgets, but Spun does not. Most widgets are plugins, which are separate from the theme.

    I’d recommend installing Jetpack — it includes a lot of the features available to WordPress.com users, but for self-hosted sites.
