Additional options for booking activities
-
Hey,
is it possible to add additional options to the booking activities?
Brief description of my problem: We want to create a online reservation/booking system for a tennis hall with several courts. What would be the best way for allowing the customer to choose their court? Thanks in advance.

Hello,
If you want your customers to choose their court, it means that you want to distinguish the availability of each court.
Let’s say you have 4 courts, and you want to make them available from 9am to midday.
Then you can’t have one event from 9am to midday, with an availability of 4.
You need to have 4 events from 4 different activities (1 activity = 1 court), with an availability of 1, from 9am to midday.EDIT:
It is also possible to create the 4 events from the same activity and rename them “Court 1”, “Court 2″… This will allow your customers to switch between courts if they want to reschedule their bookings. Then your customers will just have to pick the desired activity for the desired timeslot.
You can display these events in the same booking form on the same calendar, or you can create multiple booking forms, each displaying the events of one court (one activity).

Booking Activities Team. Reason: Rename the events intead of having multiple activities
Thanks for the fast response.
Okay, than there is no way with the plugin to create only one activity and the user can choose the court when he clicked the activity?
One further issue, is it possible that the user selects more than one activity? Let’s say the user can book 30 minutes time slots. If he wants to play 90 minutes, is there a way that the customer select three time slots at once?
Actually, there is no way to achieve it with one event. But you can create several events of the same activity at the same timeslot (one for each court) and then rename them “court 1”, “court 2”, etc.
The customer cannot pick more than one event. But you can create predefined groups of events (see the demo website).
Morevover, the feature to select multiple events is already part of the development schedule, I have added your vote for it, thank you for your request.Regards,
Yoan CutillasThank you for the fast and helpful response.
Our problem with several events of the same activity is, that we have up to 8 courts in a tennis hall. Therefore the events get too narrow in the booking form when we create 8 events of an activity. Therefore it isn’t an appropriate solution for us.Hello,
Yes, I will try to think of a solution to bind availabilities to ressources in the future to solve that kind of use case. Thank you for your feedback!
There are also other types of displays available with the Display Pack add-on, such as datepicker/timepicker, list views, the basic view (the events are stacked), or you can only allow the “day” view and prevent the events to overlap.
By the way, if you increase the “Responsive calendar view threshold” option to 99999 in Booking Activities general settings, your calendars will always default to “day” view, your events will show better on that view. You can also use Booking Activities with WooCommerce, and set one variation per court. You will have a “Court” selectbox, and when the user switches court, the corresponding court calendar will be loaded. Without WooCommerce, you can have a landing page with 8 links redirecting to the correspondng court booking form. Of course, this means that the user has to choose the court before the timeslot.
Finally, if the courts are quite identical, or if they can be split in categories (indoor courts, outdoor courts for example), you can still create one event for all with an availability of 8 (or two events, one for the indoor courts, the other for the outdoor courts, with an availability of 4 each).

Yoan CutillasThanks for your comprehensive response!
I have a question regarding your available Add-ons. We are currently using the free version of your plugin, but we’re considering to buy the advanced form and display pack add-on.
Is it possible to solve the court problem as we discussed previously with the advanced form add-on?
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in Booking Activities add-ons,
About the Advanced Forms add-on, if you are thinking of adding a “Court” selectbox to your booking forms, then, no, it won’t solve the problem;
Advanced Forms will allow your customer to select a tennis court, but it won’t split the event availability between the courts.
Advanced Forms is usefull to ask customer information related to the booking, or to add metadata to a booking. Then you can see (and edit) those information in your booking list and filter the list by these information. To fully solve your issue, you will need to wait until Booking Activities allows you to
– Feature #1: bind your activities to ressources (your tennis courts)
– Feature #2: select multiple events at onceHowever, these are complex features, which still need to be designed, and some other much requested features need to be developed first (priorities are set according to requests number), so it will take several months before their release.

Yoan CutillasHey,
I just wanted to ask if there are any updates regarding the planned features for the booking activities plugin:
– Feature #1: bind your activities to ressources (your tennis courts)
– Feature #2: select multiple events at onceThanks in advance
Hello,
They are both very big features, and they are both in a very early phase. I have recently validated their development and they will be developed for sure since there is a sufficient demand for both.
But first, other features that have been in high demand for a long time must be developed. This will take months.
Then the design and the development of these two features will also take months each separatly. I think that we can expect a first release mid-2019, but I still do not know exactly when and how they will be released.
