Will it again be possible to determine how many columns will be used in the layout? I prefer a wider two column layout as opposed to the three column version I’m now forced to use.

At this time, the new Dashboard will be responsive and fill in the number columns based on the screen’s width. The actual breakpoints for that are up for discussion in Core’s Trac: http://core.trac.ww.wp.xz.cn/ticket/26074
