Thanks for the link, there are few paddings/margins that we can remove in order to reduce the size of the footer. Please try adding the following CSS code in the style.css file of your child theme or add it in your site using the following plugin:

.site-footer aside#text-5 {
  margin-bottom: 0;
}

footer#site-footer {
  padding-bottom: 0;
}
