admin-ajax.php over http instead of https

I’m running a multi-site wordpress e-commerce site. On the checkout, when I get to review and pay, all I get is a spinning loader.

The console says, essentially, that it’s happening because I’m trying to load ajax-admin.php (which is insecure) over a secure connection.

I’m using GEO IP detection to direct traffic, based on the user’s IP address. If I give myself an exception, I’m able to complete a transaction, though I’ve just chalked that up to weird coincidences rather than a bug.

I know I’m not the first person to have this happen, but I haven’t seen a clear answer, though many roads point here.
