Admin Extended Profile displaying Duplicate Fields

Hello,

With WordPress 4.1 and Buddypress 2.1.1 I’m experiencing duplicate Fields in the Admin backend on the Extended Profile tab. The front end edit and register appear to not have the issue, however the front end profile view is also displaying these duplicates.

This may be related to this issue so I’ve asked for an update for their resolution:

Deactivating and reactivating recreates the issue for me, but at least deactivating gets rid of it.

A nuance of the issue is it seems the Name field which should be removed/hidden reappears into the backend and view pages.

Another Note, when editing the Profile Fields they show up fine until I click save and then they all get duplicated so it’s like the error is in a filter or action that’s executed only on saving in the backend Profile Fields editor.

Hmm, this is odd I’ve got W3 Total Cache installed and when I cleared caches I noticed some fields weren’t there on reload until I reloaded again. Now fully disabling Object Cache has resolved the issue.
Would love to understand how that’s posing a conflict.

Hi Garrett, thanks for the report. As per my comment elsewhere I’ll amend the bp_has_profile args before the main query, which is now possible since BuddyPress 2.1. This may solve the issue.

I’ll leave the ticket open so feel free to enlist me for testing when the update is available.
Sounds like a reasonable solution for sure, and I guess pre-2.1 Buddypress users can simply live without the Object Cache enabled.

Closing this ticket as my issue was resolved by @christian in a branch on github:

Once he’s finished testing it’ll be rolled into an update, but for now if anyone needs this fix please see the branch linked above.
