Admin Menu Missing

    Since updating to TablePress from WP-Table Reloaded, the admin menu item has gone missing. I have uninstalled, and reinstalled, deactivated, and re-activated. And still, the menu is just plain gone.

    Please help! We can’t edit our tables, but they still render. Help!?!?

    Hi,

    thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

    Does this happen for all admin users? Most likely there’s something wrong with the access capabilities. If possible, I’d like to take a direct look at this on your site. Could you therefore please create a temporary admin account for me and send me the details via email (the address is in the main plugin file “tablepress.php”)? That way, I can investigate this directly. Thanks!

    Hi,

    thanks for the account! I was able to log in and could verify the problem. From what I can see, it was caused by that Role Management plugin that you are using. That somehow didn’t pick up the extra capabilities that TablePress adds to WordPress (so that different user roles can perform different actions in TablePress).
    I was now able to fix this by resetting these capabilities and by flushing the cache of the Role Manager plugin.
    Can you verify that everything now works?

    (Oh, and you tricked me a little bit by renaming the Admin bar entry from “TablePress” to “Player Listings” 🙂 )

    Thank you Tobias! You’re awesome. Sorry that I forgot to mention the name change. I looked at the roles and permissions settings and did not see it, so I will learn next time to triple check. Sorry for the bother as clearly this was my fault and not your awesome plugin.

    And don’t worry, you didn’t really have a chance to fix this, I think. The Role Manager plugin doesn’t seem to show them for some reason (you should look for capabilities that start with “tablepress_” in their name).
    I had to restore them in a kind of hacky way, and even then required that cache flushing. I guess, this is just one of the cases where the complexity of that Role Manager plugin haunts us a little bit.
