• Hi,
After having moved my test website to the main folder, my admin page has kind of disappeared! Now, when I logged into the admin page, I have a weird login page formatted in plain html. Once connected I’m unable to get to the usual dashboard, only plain html again.
Please anyone having an idea why? I can’t do any update in my website now 🙁
    Thanks for any help…
    Liliane

Could you give some more details about exactly what you did?
You had a WordPress installation in a subfolder, and now you dragged the files into the main folder–is that correct?

If so, it’s a tad more complicated than that 🙂
This article might help you: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2013/04/08/moving-wordpress-website/

If not, a more thorough explanation, plus a link to your site, would be helpful.

    Hi Peninah,

Actually yes, I copied the files from subfolder to main folder. I also changed some parameters in the database (phpmyadmin). You can view the problem at http://www.lilicoon.com/wp-admin. You’ll see what I mean when I said weird html page.
    Thanks for your help…

I don’t think anyone can work out a solution without knowing what you did to the database. I could be wrong about that but it’s my guess.

The best option might be for you to switch everything back to how it was, and then follow a tutorial like the one I mentioned above on how to appropriately move a WordPress site.

I just changed the site url to the new url. Do you know what theme WordPress uses as the default template for the login page. Before moving the site, I did some cleaning in the theme section, maybe I deleted some theme by mistake?

It’s possible you deleted something by mistake. But changing the site url and dragging is not the way to change a WP installation from a subfolder to a url. You need to do a bit more than that. The article I referenced earlier from Smashing Magazine goes through the process clearly.
