please define first where you want the adsense to show;
the method depends on the location;
also consider searching for a adsense plugin http://ww.wp.xz.cn/extend/plugins/

Thanks for the message. I guess I’d opt for adding the adsense code om my opening page on the righthand side. If you have any other suggestions, they would be most appreciated, since I’m brand new to WordPress.

you can enter the adsense code into a textwidget –
however, this will be shown on all pages, unless you use a plugin to show widgets only on selected pages; for instance http://ww.wp.xz.cn/extend/plugins/widget-context/ or http://ww.wp.xz.cn/extend/plugins/widget-logic/
