After linking PDF I got the message “Error occurred while processing directive”

Hi,
I wanted to link a PDF to a part of the text. I clicked on “Add Media” to upload the PDF. Then I copied the URL in the media library and highlighted the text in the post to link and pasted the URL to link to the PDF.

After I did this, I can see the link and the PDF opens on a new window the way it should on my Chrome browser, but it doesn’t work on any other browsers and on no one else can see it either. It strangely works only on my Chrome in this whole wide world. So I can’t figure out why it would work only on my Chrome and not on my other browsers and no one else can see it.

So I deleted the PDF from the media library and FTPed the PDF. I linked the text to the URL directly. It still doesn’t work. I still get the error, “an error occurred while processing this directive.”

How do I resolve this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
