    I would like to ask about the possibility of connecting the AI Engine plugin with Google Banana Nano for image generation.

    At the moment, I’m using the free version of the plugin, but I’m happy to upgrade to AI Engine Pro. What we currently need is for our chatbot to generate one specific type of images, and this is something that Banana Nano by Google can do best.

    Would it be possible to connect your plugin with this model?Thank you in advance for your answer.

    Hi @annafink23,

    Yes, AI Engine can connect with Google’s image models. The Banana Nano you mentioned is actually part of the Gemini 2.5 Flash Image Preview model.

    That said, I want to be honest: Gemini’s APIs evolve constantly and sometimes in confusing ways. For example, the “Pro” models don’t always offer more than the Flash ones, and the API doesn’t handle edits as smoothly as the Gemini app (you often need to re-upload the whole image for each change, which is slow and costly). Because of these quirks, I keep Gemini support separate and focused.

    The free version of AI Engine already handles text really well and can generate images through providers like OpenAI or Claude, which are usually more stable. It’s a good idea to explore those first and make sure you really need Gemini before considering anything else. Of course, you can always try the Pro Version and ask for a refund if it’s not enough for you (but we can’t discuss Pro Versions of plugins here, as it’s not allowed by WordPress Forums).
