    Whenever I try to activate my API key I get an error saying there’s a problem connecting to the Akismet server. I’ve contacted my host and they say they can’t do anything about it if I’m trying to use a PHP Socket function, which they don’t allow due to abuse.

    What can I do?

    Nobody knows what this PHP socket function means?
    Some help would be appreciated…

    lots of hosts disabling opening sockets in PHP. If you cannot use fsockopen on your host .. dont use askimet, use something else to battle spam, or use another plugin.
