    I have posted this because many newcomers with css layout questions are routinely pointed at the Word Press style comp hosted at Alex’s site. Is it my browser or is there something very odd about
    Matt’s entry ?
    My own layout is currently a mess and I just can not get it straightened out.

    Yes, you must be using IE. Many were done on other browsers and need tweaking. Pink Lilies is a nice one, but I doubt it was designed with such a LONG menu in mind so now it needs its own tweaking. 🙂 – I believe it was the one I used as a starting point for my current design.

    Well there is tweaking and there is reconstruction. The key characteristic of our blogs is that we do not know the length of our posts, our comments or our menus. So what use are these to newcomers. Here is a genuinely gorgeous design but look:

    And no I am not on IE.
