• I’ve just manually updated my wordpress site (or at least tried to) to 3.9 from 3.5.1.

I followed the instructions and everything looked to work fine, when I went back to the dashboard it said it needed to update which it did, but now the wp-admin page is totally blank.

The only plugin I had running was akismet but I have now disabled it by renaming the folder to plugins.hold. This hasn’t made any difference. This has happened every time I’ve tried to update since 3.5.1 so have been holding off the updating process. I’m accessing the page through Chrome if that makes any difference, but is also blank in Firefox.

My actual site is up and viewable, plus it has the icons at the top saying 3 themes and a plug in need updating so it def looks to be running on the update.

    Update:
I’ve called the theme I was using .old and I can now see the main admin page and some sub sections.

I can see the comments section to delete spam but cannot write any new posts.

That then stopped the site from being viewable!

So it seems as if it is the themes that are messing it all up. Is it possible to remove ALL themes and then just put one newly downloaded them in the folder via FTP?

Or am I barking up the wrong tree?
