Hello and first of all thank you for such a great plugin.

I have a simple question. My logs files is slowly growing very large. What I mean is the part that says under logs All Lockouts has grown to 12,991 items in 260 pages. Some of these IP addresses are repeated. Is this going to cause problems in the future as this file keeps growing. Is there a way to reduce it or clear this file. Or is this file simply letting you know that these IP addresses are included in the blocking mechanism of this plugin.

I hope my question is simple enough for you to understand 🙂

    Kind and warm regards

    Have you try:
    1. Goto menu > Security > View Logs > Old Data
    2. Enable the checkbox(s) of the things you want to clear

I clean the logs every several days, you should too. Because the information said it may increase CPU load. Here I copy/paste the texts:

This page contains the logs generated by Better WP Security, current lockouts (which can be cleared here) and a way to cleanup the logs to save space on the server and reduce CPU load. Please note, you must manually clear these logs, they will not do so automatically. I highly recommend you do so regularly to improve performance which can otherwise be slowed if the system has to search through large log-files on a regular basis.

Hi Handoko, thank you for your information. However I am already performing those task on a regular basis. My question was in regards to

What I mean is the part that says under logs All Lockouts has grown to 12,991 items in 260 pages.

I you check your settings under View Logs >> All Lockouts you will notice how much it has growing in your list as well. I know these are all the IP address that have been locked out from the beginning. Is this going to keep on growing or is there a way to reduce it to zero?

    Kind regards

Sorry not very sure what you mean. Every time after I clean the data, my All Lockouts will become empty too. It never grow to anything big.

Hello Handoko, that is very strange because every time I clean all the log files, All Lockouts still contains a huge list. What do you think could be happening on my end.

    Kind regards

Yes, very strange. Never heard anyone has issue like yours. Have you tried to uninstall the plugin and install it again?

Hi, the plugin runs extremely well 🙂 the only problem as I mentioned above is All Lockouts which has 13,000 ip address at the current moment.

I have now uninstalled and deleted the plugin, cleared my cache. Check the database to make sure there are no plugin entries left behind. I installed the plugin and check the logs tab and there were no entries under All Lockouts.

I will now monitor this and see what happens after I delete the log files whether All Lockouts are deleted as well.

    Kind regards

Hi Handoko, I have finally worked out what the problem was. Well at least this is working for me.

What I have to do is select the following and click on clear.

Your database contains 0 old lockouts.

The above works. However my question is why does is show 0, when there are many Lockouts?

I will save this Support Thread as resolved.

    Kind regards for your support.
