I need a user to be able to create posts and events but not have access to any settings, tools, users, etc. Just create posts.

I’ve tried copying the author role and the ONE setting i found that allows the user to create posts is “manage options” but that gives them access to most of the admin menu. Please help.

    Hi @zero20two

If you need this level of personal site support, please become a member at http://publishpress.com

It might be best to start with the Contributor role, rather than Author. The Contributor role can only create Posts. They just have the edit_posts permission: https://publishpress.com/blog/edit-posts-permission-wordpress/

I started with the contributor as you suggested and I used the “Type Specific Capabilities” in order to use the “create_posts capability” and still nothing. I actually get a blank white page with a “-1” on it. Any ideas?

Did you also assign the create_posts capability to the Contributor role?

It sounds like you have some other plugin code imposing restrictions separate from CME. What Events plugin are you using?

Try temporarily deactivating as many other plugins as possible to isolate the issue.
