I was looking for how to be sure the end user doesn’t register when they donate and didn’t see anything. I did see this under the form settings:

    User Registration
Notify donors that they have an account they can use to manage their donations

When enabled, donors will be notified that they have an account they can use to manage their donations. Disable if you do not want donors to be aware of their account.

Does this mean that every user will get registered no matter what, we just choose whether or not they KNOW they were registered? This is not ideal – I don’t really want everyone who donates to have a user in the back end.

    Thanks.

    Hi @emgb_520.

Glad you reached out! Happy to clarify.

When you create a new form using our Visual Form Builder, new users are always created, this is intentional, and it is not possible to disable it.

While developing the Visual Donation Form Builder, our team thought very carefully about how we should handle access to private information, such as receipts, managing subscriptions, and donation history.

In previous versions, we had our own authentication system to verify donor logins independent of WordPress’ own system.

This led to some considerable pain points for admins and donors, primarily with caching of authenticated pages and maintaining security.

Instead of trying to maintain our own security measures, we decided to use the time-tested and well-maintained, native WordPress permissions system. That’s why every donor is added to Users.
One of our colleagues also provided a more in-depth answer to another inquiry about this previously in the WordPress support forum: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/wp-user-record-created-for-a-donor/.

Using WordPress users to manage donor access to private information improves safety and reduces risk for organizations and donors alike, and we do not plan to reverse this decision. It also allows plugins such as Solid Security to build upon the security systems. With that in mind, we closed this request to prevent new users from being created for V3 forms.

However, we are interested in learning more about how you would like to manage donors and access in general. You can still comment on the post (that I linked below) if you’d like to share more information. We may be able to find another solution that meets your needs.

You can also read this on this archived (and closed) article — https://feedback.givewp.com/feature-requests/p/vfb-forms-should-have-an-option-to-create-users-or-not.

Please let me know if you have further questions. I’m always happy to help!

That’s fine – I actually ended up uninstalling the plugin anyway, since it requires a PayPal Business account to even use it. Thanks, anyway.
