Allow expand from the start :)

when i enable the “Allow expand” function it does shrink after i focus the search and press outside of it, but in the beginning (when the page loads) it shows the full width (until i focus on the search field and press outside like i said…).

Is this a bug or does it suppose to be like that? and is there a way to fix/change it?
