    Hi,

I would like to install this plugin but I have a question :

When I will compress my images, the ALT TEXT of them will be deleted or replaced ?

I spent a long time writing alt texts for all my images and I don’t want to lose my work.

    Thanks.

    Hi @zelph14!

This is Joseph from Imagify, and I’ll gladly assist you here!

Imagify actually only works to lower the file size of your images, and your alt text from your HTML code for your image tags should not be changed or deleted.

If you use our “Use <picture> tags” option for WebP image type display, your img tags do get replaced with picture tags, but the alt text will remain on the img tag within the picture tag. And this change is not permanent, so you can simply disable this option if it doesn’t suit your needs.

Just in case you might be referencing the EXIF data of your images, we do have an option in your Imagify plugin settings page to “Keep all EXIF data from your images.” You can make sure this is enabled before you optimize your images as well to preserve that data.

If you’d like, you can always test how Imagify works on a single image, just to be on the safe side.

Please let me know if you have any further questions on this and I’ll be more than happy to assist!

    Best regards,
    Joseph
