Altering the user_submit_name option

Really love your plugin, I’m not sure why all these recent reviews had so many issues figuring it out. I guess I’m lucky?
Eitherway, I’d love for people to submit something in the name option as a reference for me to create a user account with that input value if it’s not already on the site. The current issue is that when I update the wordpress author value, it doesn’t update the user_submit_name value as well.
Is there a simple fix or change I can do to have the user_submit_name value automatically update if I change the wordpress username value?
Right now, I’m having to manually update the user_submit_name value for each post that didn’t already have a user account on the site (and I’m not really wanting to open registration up on my site.)
