Alternate method for selecting digest posts

Thank you for an effective plugin, which I’ve found useful on site SusiHavensBezaire.com.

I’d like to suggest an alternate method of selecting posts for the daily digest email. We tend to release posts in small batches, and change the post date on each to achieve a desire sequencing. Thus, they do not get picked up in the daily digest when selects posts by date.

I implemented an alternate that watches for posts that change status in/out of “published”, and flags them as “needed” when they are ready to be included in a digest. The cron job then selects based on this flag, and resets it to “done” so they are only ever notified once.

I tried to include a copy of my implementation (all changes are in file class-s2-core.php from version 8.9.1), but that message posted as blank on this forum (maybe too long?). Alas.
