After awhile, I noticed that User Sync was silently failing after updating MC4WP past 4.10.0 — I’m now aware that you stopped maintaining the User Sync functionality several years ago (though I really wish you had provided at least a changelog note when the functionality was finally broken!), but I do need this functionality, which your Premium add-on doesn’t provide, either.

Do you / does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative plugin or syncing tool that will provide the functionality that User Sync did?

For reference, this is what User Sync did (copied from the Mailchimp for WordPress Premium website — you should probably remove this, by the way, unless it is actually a part of the Premium add-on?):

    User Sync

The user sync feature automatically updates subscribers in Mailchimp when someone updates their WordPress user profile (or vice versa).

This way, your data in both WordPress and Mailchimp is always perfectly in sync.

MC4WP Premium add-on has a UserSync feature build into it as described on the feature list.
It works different from the old free UserSync add-on as it only syncs data for existing subscribers, it can’t change subscription status.

Hope that helps. If you have any further questions please let me know.

I see, thanks for explaining — syncing data for existing subscribers is helpful, but we need the ability to subscribe users when they register an account via the registration form that the Ultimate Member plugin provides. Is there an integration for that?

For that you should use an integration method that you can find under MC4WP > Integrations. That way people are subscribed when they first sign up, giving it a clear opt-in moment, and they aren’t accidentally re-subscribed by user-sync if they unsubscribe.

I believe Ultimate Member will use the normal WordPress user registration hooks, so you can use the default integration for that in MC4WP.

If you want to track subscription status in WordPress (in case a user later unsubscribes from Mailchimp) there is a 2 way hook for that in UserSync, so you can set a user role based on subscription status if that’s important to you.

Hope that helps. If you have any further questions please let me know.

Thanks for the additional information, @lapzor, this is really helpful to know. When I go to MC4WP > Integration and activate the “Registration Form” option (“Subscribes people from your WordPress registration form.”), it actually changes to say “UltimateMember” (“Subscribes people from your UltimateMember registration form.”) and I can confirm that it enables a subscription checkbox to be added to the Ultimate Member registration form (or alternatively appears to allow implicit / automatic subscribing via the Ultimate Member registration form).
