    altpwa 1.1.2 plugin does indeed work with WordPress 2.7.1 and PHP5. And it works even better after making a few PHP fixes and many html syntax corrections so that its pages validate for XHTML 1.0.

    Lightbox option is cool. It also was useful comparing Picasa integration using altpwa with plugins for Gallery 2 and ZenPhoto.
