    Dear Support,
I am trying to get the WordPress Amazon plugin working.
I was told that you do not provide developer support.
Really what I am trying to do is to get the plug-in to connect and recognize my Amazon keys.

What I did is I documented your instructions below, and how I followed your instructions, and what happened each step of the way, and you can see that my problem IS NOT A DEVELOPER PROBLEM, it appears to be something on your end THAT I CANNOT FIX or that I cannot know how to fix, because I have put forth best efforts to follow THE AMAZON INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY.

The links that customer support provided me that were applicable I had already accessed.
The other links did not apply to the WordPress Amazon plugin.

I had originally installed the Amazon plugin locally on localhost, then copied the plugin to the hosted environment. Could this be causing a problem? Does this program create some sort of secret file that needs to somehow be replicated?

The wordpress dashboard for the amazon plugin has this user guide:
    https://s3.amazonaws.com/aalb-public-resources/documents/AssociatesLinkBuilder-UserGuide.pdf

    These are the instructions:
    Getting Started
You can start using the plugin by
    following these steps
    :
Step 1 – Become an Associate
The Amazon Associates Program is one of the original affiliate marketing programs. Available in geographies across the globe, the Amazon Associates Program has been partnering with content creators to help them monetize their passions since 1996. To learn more about the Amazon Associates Program, please click here
    United States
    http://affiliate-program.amazon.com/
    >> which I did
    .
Step 2–Sign up for the Amazon Product Advertising API
Sign up for the Amazon Product Advertising API by following the instructions listed here
    .
The Amazon Product Advertising API is a popular e-commerce service, powering Amazon-integrated experiences around the world, serving tens of thousands of applications and more than 1 billion API requests every day. It exposes a web-service, which allows Associates to programmatically search and look up items in
the Amazon product catalog. The Link Builder plugin integrates the Product Advertising API, allowing you to access Amazon.com product catalog data without requiring additional software development.

    >> which I did

    Step 3

    Install the plugin
To install the Amazon Associates Link Builder plugin:
1.Log in to your WordPress dashboard, navigate to the Plugins menu and click Add New.
2.In the search field type “Amazon Associates Link Builder” and click Search Plugins. You can install it by simply clicking “Install Now”.

    >> which I did

Step 4 – Configure plugin settings
Use the Associates Link Builder->Settings screen to configure the plugin.
1.Set Access Key ID and Secret Access Key in the Settings section. These credentials are used to invoke requests to the Amazon Product Advertising API for fetching information on an item.

    >> I did this, and checked CHECK HERE TO INDICATE YOU HAVE READ stuff
    >> I hit SAVE CHANGES, but I am not sure anything happened at this point

2.Set default Associate ID. Associate ID is used to monitor traffic and sales from your links to Amazon. You can also define a list of valid Associate IDs (store ids or tracking ids).

    >> I entered the amazon provided TRACKING ID provided by AMAZON
    >> Default template: ProductAd (which I setup with default CSS etc code)

3.Set the default Amazon marketplace based on the Amazon Associates Program for which you are registered (for example, if you’ve signed up for the Amazon Associates Program in UK, then your default market place selection should be UK) and select an appropriate template for rendering your ads

    >> Default marketplace is US, for amazon provided tracking id

That’s it! You’re all set to start adding Amazon affiliate links to your posts using the Amazon Associates Link Builder plugin!
Add affiliate links to Amazon directly from WordPress
When creating, or editing a WordPress page or blog post, you can easily search
products in the Amazon catalog on the applicable Amazon.com site and add affiliate links to Amazon.com directly from WordPress. Here’s how you can add an
affiliate link to Amazon.com, step-by-step, using the Amazon Associates Link Builder plugin:
Step 1 – Placing your cursor In order to add an affiliate link to your page or post, you must first insert your cursor in the place in the text where you want the affiliate link to appear. By placing your cursor within your text, you can add affiliate links in line with your content. You can also place your cursor on a blank line if you want the ad/buy link to appear by itself instead.

    >> Pretty easy to do

Step 2– Type in search keywords and click the Search button
Once you have placed your cursor on the line where you want to insert the affiliate link, you can type in the name, category, and/or brand of the product in the search bar for launching the search results interface

HERE IS WHERE I AM STUCK
    I FOLLOWED ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS
    IT SAYS:

Your AccessKey ID is not registered for Product Advertising API. Please sign up for Product Advertising API by following these guidelines.

Which sends me to this link:
    http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSECommerceService/latest/DG/becomingDev.html

Which I already accessed and completed above.

Can someone please help me with this?
I really think I did what I could at my end.

    Thanks,
    William Strom

    Hello William,

I’m sorry for the difficulty you’re having with the Product Advertising API. I would recommend since you mentioned using a plugin and wordpress to see our resource center for associates here to help:

    >> I clicked here, here are FAQ from this document:
    Link Builder FAQs
What versions of WordPress does the plugin work with?
The plugin is compatible with v3.0.1 up to v4.7.3.

    >> I am using a version of wordpress in this version range

I have accounts with several Amazon affiliate programs. Will the plugin work for me?
Yes! There is one, worldwide Link Builder plugin and you can configure the settings for the Amazon website to which you wish to link. For clarity’s sake, links from the Link Builder can only be directed to one Amazon website per WordPress site.

    >> n/a for me now

During setup, I’m being asked for various “keys”. What are these and how do I get them?
The Link Builder plugin leverages our Product Advertising API and the API requires access credentials, aka keys, specific to your Amazon account in order to function. Visit it to sign up for API access or to get your keys. A detailed description of the Product Advertising API is available here.

    >> I clicked on this and confirmed that I previously had created on 11-09-2017 an ACTIVE ACCESS KEY ID

The request signature we calculated does not match the signature you provided. Check your AWS Secret Access Key and signing method. Consult the service documentation for details.

    Wordpress 4.8.3
    Amazon Associates Link Builder 1.4.13
Firefox Quantum 57.0 64 bit, also does not work on Chrome
    PHP 7.0.25 (host is bluehost)
This is being run on BlueHost, I presume it is windows server

Actually, your method to test is running from my windows 10 local machine,
I am trying to get the link from the dashboard on my bluehost site,
using the amazon link plugin, as my original email describes.

I generated another set of access keys, that worked.
I had also deactivated and activated the plugin, although that probably had no effect.
    So I am working now.

    Dear @brucestrom

That’s great to hear that second set of credentials are working fine for you now. Regarding your first set of credentials, the error is due to wrong secret keys entered. But we are still wondering that why it worked on your local set up & not on bluehost. But anyways since the second set of credentials are working for you, it’s fine. Resolving this thread for now. Feel free to re-open this is if you are still facing any issue.
