You can use this extension plugin to add amp-auto-ads to your site, regardless of the template mode: https://gist.github.com/westonruter/a41573b932e24810b09949136b9a8445

Apologies but I am unsure of what to do with what you have given me? Is it code that I am meant to copy and paste into my site or a plugin file I have to upload or is it something else entirely?
The code is a plugin file, yes.
1. Click the “Download ZIP” button.
2. Rename the downloaded ZIP file to “amp-auto-ads.zip”
3. In the WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New
4. Click the Upload Plugin button.
5. Select the “amp-auto-ads.zip” file and click “Install now”.
6. CLick “Activate”
7. Lastly, navigate to the plugin’s settings in Settings > Reading to provide the AdSense publisher ID.
If this code becomes vulnerable, wouldn’t it be better to launch it as an upgradeable plugin? Could this option be implemented to the AMP plugin?
Instead of having to maintain our own ad plugin, we recommend using dedicated plugins like Site Kit by Google instead which just got released a few days ago.
Indeed. The gist plugins are meant as temporary stopgaps until there are AMP-compatible plugins published.
I didn’t know about this solution! Thank you so much! 🙂
