Is there a way to easily customize AMP? I would like to use AMP but it disables too many things that are useful (like turning off all javascript). Is there a way to selectively pick-and-choose what it disables?

  • @chuckc3 thanks for your inquiry!

The goal of AMP is to provide faster web experiences therefore restricting JavaScript is one requirement. With that said, there are approaches you can explore:

You can choose which pages/ posts are served as AMP in the editor. In Standard and Transitional mode you can also opt to keep invalid markup (under Validated URLs and Error Index in the plugin settings), but note that this would make related pages invalid and not served as AMP.

One other path to consider is to explore the existing ecosystem of AMP-compatible themes and plugins, which makes building AMP experiences easier. You can also inquire with the authors of your current themes and plugins if they have or plan to have AMP compatibility. If I’m not mistaken, you’re using the Astra theme? It has AMP support, so you have a good foundation there.
