Thank you for contacting us, As the error message suggested that Wizard is facing conflicts with another plugin that may be interfering with the JSON response.
I will recommend sending us the Site health information using AMP->Support so we can check the plugin that might affect it

due to server restrictions on install from wp-admin, I had installed after downloading zip and putting under plugins and then activating

We tried to replicate your setup at our end, but we are unable to replicate it, I will recommend self-debugging using Health and Troubleshooting plugin.
To narrow down further, could you use the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and enable its troubleshooting mode. This mode disables active plugins and switches to a default theme safely since it only affects the experience of the logged-in user.
– Please enable the AMP plugin and let me know if the issue is present.
– Enabling plugins and your theme one by one in this mode may help pinpoint if something else is involved.
– Note you can disable troubleshooting mode from the plugins page.
