Hi there, I just tried to export a theme via the site editor and am not seeing this error.
Could you please let me know what version of WordPress you’re using? Does this issue still happen with WordPress 6.0, the latest version?
What about with the standalone Gutenberg plugin deactivated? The plugin is only needed if you want to get new block-editor features before they are incorporated into Core WordPress.
Thanks!

Hello Kathryn,
Thank you for your response. I tested this afternoon with WordPress 6 and the Gutenberg plugin disabled, and the error does not occur. I was running WordPress 5.9.3 with Gutenberg 13.2 when I encountered the error.
Meanwhile, I’m stuck with WordPress 5.9.3 on my production site. I spoke with GoDaddy support today and was told that their back-end team is working on WordPress 6 and, while there is no definite date, it should roll out to Managed WordPress sites in a few months.
Perhaps I will have learned a bit more by the time WordPress 6 is available.
Thanks again.
Hi there, thanks for confirming that the issue isn’t there with WP 6.0. If you can create your template modifications on a site running 6.0, perhaps you can then import them into your 5.9.3 site? Wasn’t sure if you were seeing an error on the import side as well. Good luck!
Hi Kathryn,
I’m actually getting that same error message: ““An error occurred while creating the site export.”
I’m running WP 6.0, 2022 theme and Twentig, no Gutenberg plugin like the thread starter did.
Any advice?
Also: where can I find the import function (in case we get the export to work :)…)
Thank you!
Best, Florian
Hi @rhisflow – as this thread is already marked resolved for the OP (original poster), could you please start a new post in the Twenty Twenty-Two forum and we can continue troubleshooting your issue there? Thanks.
