Analytics for Variations no longer pulling all data

I’m having an issue with pulling analytics now. It always worked fine, including last week (8/24/24) before I updated WordPress. I’ve always gone to Analytics > Variations > select the current week, advanced filters > variations match ALL filters > product category includes [list of all 3 categories I want to include] > Filter
I can see products are missing and where I usually have 2 pages worth of items, it’s only showing 20 items.
Even if I only do one product category (ex. “individual meal prep” category), it’s only showing me 2 products (2 variations each) instead of all 16 products. It appears to be leaving out “simple product” whereas they were always included before. I need to be able to download a .csv of sold product count for all products within a category, separated out by variation, whether they have a variation or not.
Going to Analytics > Products doesn’t give me the breakdown by variation to export. Our production team needs to know how many of each size to make.

Typically, updates shouldn’t affect your analytics visibility.
As a first step, could you please clear your cache and try again? Sometimes, outdated data can cause such issues. If that doesn’t work, try temporarily disabling all your plugins except WooCommerce to see if there’s a conflict with another plugin.

If the issue persists, it might be worth trying to revert to the previous version of WordPress to see if that resolves the issue. You can do this by using a plugin like WP Rollback.

Thanks for the ideas. Unfortunately, clearing the cache and turning off all of the plugins didn’t work.
I guess “simple product[s]” are no longer included as having a variation. I’ll have to gather info the hard way from two separate areas, the variations page and the categories page where I’ll have to delete anything with 0 sales since I can’t select a date range.

It seems like there might be an issue with the way the analytics are being pulled after the WordPress update. “Simple products” should indeed be included in the analytics, just as they were before the update.
Just to make sure we are on the same can, could you please optimize your database and then test using a different browser?
Rest assured, I’ve followed the steps you mentioned, but I’m still not able to reproduce this error on my testing site.
Additionally, please provide us with your System Status Report. You can get it by navigating to WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Download for support”. Paste it here in your response, or share it via Mozilla Community Pastebin and share the link here.

I’ll clean up the database next weekend once the online store is closed again to update the menu. I know that the database was recently updated when WooCommerce was updated. Btw, any chance that the Analytics in the side bar in WP are more of an issue with WC rather than WP?

Btw, any chance that the Analytics in the side bar in WP are more of an issue with WC rather than WP?

Can you also please share the Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs. Then you can use the selector to search for Fatal Errors.

I used WP Sweep to sweep the database and it’s still not showing simple products in the Variations list like it had before.

This is curious, as the report is for variable products. Can you tell us when did this change? A rough estimate date would be ok, and if there have been any changes on your website around that time, maybe a new plugin, an update, or changes on any settings.
More importantly we’d like to know which WooCommerce version used to show this differently for you so we can review the changelogs to learn more. However, as my colleague says, the report is meant for variable products. For reports by categories, you can use the Categories report. You can also filter by any category of your choosing, ie: meal prep. This should show up every product, variable or single! Can you tell us if this works for you as expected?

-OPIf I use the Categories report then it shows the product sales as a whole and not broken down by its variations. For example, they need to know how many 1/2 lb and 1 lb tuna salads they need to make. This only gives me the total count for both 1/2 lb and 1 lb.
This change happened some time between 8/25 and 8/31. When I pulled the Variation report on 8/24 it was as it had always been. (And yes, that makes sense the the Variations report would only show products with variations.)
I went back through my update emails and it shows these plugins being updated in between these dates.
