Android always in dark mode

JOAN is set to “Always use light theme” because text links in the Program Schedule and Jock On Air Now widget don’t show up well on a dark background. Works great on desktop with multiple browsers on tablet, and iPhone. However, on Android phones it appears that this setting is not working correctly.

Chrome:

1. phone set to light mode, program sched is in light mode
2. phone set to dark mode, program sched is in dark mode

Firefox:

1. phone set to light mode, program sched is in dark mode
2. phone set to dark mode, program sched is in dark mode

I tried with “Force dark mode for web content” in Android settings enabled and disabled, no effect.

JOAN settings:
I have tried Auto, always use light, always use dark, disabled, and checked the box for “Allow visitors to manually override dark mode preference.”

Currently set to “always use light theme.”

Any insight as to what I can do to make Androids always be in light mode?
