    Hi Tobias (& others)–

As suggested by the title, I’m having a problem with Tablepress and Chrome browser. As documented in this support topic (http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/audio-only-doesnt-appear-in-chrome,) Tablepress appears to cache the table data, somehow causing my links to not load.

My original support request was directed at another plugin, but the gist of the matter is: My Tablepress table displays fine in Firefox, but not in Chrome. I created a test page without using Tablepress, and my links display correctly in Chrome.. Perhaps the actual links would be more helpful:

[ Moderator note: Post fixed. If you do not wrap your <li> with <ul> or <ol> it messed up how the forum parser displays your post. ]

What might I do about restoring my Tablepress page? I’m no programmer, but I see the immense value of having this plugin. I just need to work it correctly. Any ideas?

As always, thanks for your time and patience.

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

I just checked both of your tables in Chrome (on Linux), and each time the audio from YouTube played fine (except for the first two videos which are blocked in Germany, due to license restrictions).

Can you maybe check again on another computer, and also when you are not logged in into WordPress?

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias-

Sigh. Now I’m really confused. I did as you instructed and checked on the desktop computer instead of the laptop. And now I see that I have a Logged In problem. I cannot see the links they way that they are supposed to appear unless I am logged in to the site.
I’ve taken a series of screen captures. I took captures of both Firefox and Chrome, both Tablepress jukebox page and No Tablepress page, both Logged In and Not Logged In. I posted the screencaps here:

    http://s1345.photobucket.com/user/humblecolor/library/Tablepress/NotLoggedIn

This is what I am seeing. Unfortunately, you are seeing something different.
I think that I’m entering senility, because I don’t understand any of this. But I appreciate your time & trouble Tobias.

    Hi,

that’s indeed weird. I tried again now on Chrome (but on a Mac), and now the problem happens for me as well.
However, I still don’t really have an idea where it’s coming from.

Therefore, my suggestion is to temporarily deactivate all other plugins, and to switch to the WordPress Default Theme TwentyTwelve, to find out, if any other plugin is maybe interfering.
(One possible source could be the jQuery UI library. From what I can see, it is loaded twice on your site, in different versions, and from different sources. This is probably the reason for a JavaScript error that I can see, and that could have to do with this.)

    Tobias

    Hi Tobias–

I just deactivated plugins/switched theme and nothing of any import was discovered.

With no plugins activated, no table or links appeared. (A table did appear on the the No Tablepress page.)
With the YouTube lyte plugin activated, links appeared. (On the No Tablepress page.)
With both Tablepress and YouTube lyte activated, no links appeared. (On the Tablepress jukebox page.)

How might I go about resolving the jQuery problem? I have no coding experience but I’m willing to try to solve this. I just have no idea where to begin. Or what I’d be doing, but that’s another story…

    Hi,

ok, of course I meant to leave TablePress and the Link plugin activated, and just to deactivate all others. Sorry for not being clear on that…
Could you create that state, so that I can take a look? Or is this not possible, because your site is already live?

About the jQuery plugin: That’s what I’m trying to find out. We need to find the plugin that’s causing this, but only if there’s no other reason for the original problem.

Another idea: What happens if you uncheck the “Use DataTables” checkbox for the table on the “Edit” screen? Do the links appear then?

    Tobias

    Hi Tobias-

Unchecking “Use DataTables” had no apparent affect. I’ve deactivated all plugins except 2 and changed the theme to default.
Let me know when you’d like me to revert.
Again, thank you for your help. I’d much rather use Tablepress than look for an alternative. An alternative that I’d like as much rather.

    Hi,

ok, I think I know what’s going on. This might have to do with the integrated table output caching in TablePress, so that we might need to turn this off for this table. To do that, please change the table’s Shortcode to

    [table id=1 cache_table_output=false /]

Me thinks that did it Tobias!

Take a gander on your end, but on my side, I can see the link in Chrome.

    Thank you!!!!!
Again, let me know when I should revert to the original theme and reactivate my PIs.

    Hi,

yes, it works for me now, too 🙂
I guess you can revert everything back to normal now.

Thank you Tobias. There’s no way in the world I’d have been able to resolve this by myself. You went above and beyond the call of duty, sir, and I appreciate it.
