• I made a small edit to my widgets.php file yesterday, which tanked. it caused a syntax problem, so I deleted my edit in the file but the problem was still there.

First it had two errors with two plug-ins (Social Media Widget and Yet Another Related Posts plugin) so I used my ftp to delete the files associated there. each time I deleted something, I just got another fatal error with a different file. At the moment, it reads:

Fatal error: Class ‘WP_Widget’ not found in /home/wp-includes/default-widgets.php on line 15

How can I fix this so that i can get back into word press to edit and get my site working again? Is there any easy fix that will not result in me losing non-backed up content?

I posted this on another forums for Graph Paper press. they suggested renaming the plugin folders to plugins_backup to gain access to the site. Then to deactivate each plugin and switch the name back.

Sadly, that didn’t work, so I still need help. Anybody?
