They’ve been thinking about it but will probably be after 3.0 before anything is made ‘concrete’.
Well, I can at least guarantee that 3.1 will be released sometime after 3.0 and before 4.0.
Well hopefully they’ll stop messing up the theme settings. I was sooooooooo excited to finally get to 3.0 and figured hey, can’t go wrong with the default theme eh?
Wrong. Every time they change anything it undoes everything. 2.9 is looking really good all of a sudden.
Oops. Sorry. Guess the /end rant tag missed a period.
You can still use the 2.9 Default theme. It won’t have all of the newly added theme features, but it will still work.
Whatever WordPress 3.1 may bring, you could always have a live peek at the current state of development at the WordPress Demo site which is currently running WordPress 3.1-alpha.

you mean on theme edits? That’s how WordPress has always worked. That’s why if you are going to edit the theme at all, you make a copy of the theme and call it something different, then it is safe and won’t get undone on upgrade
Also recommended, if you are using the Twenty Ten theme and want to modify it, then use the Child Theme ability.
