• I’m trying to get OpenGraph metatags into place for Facebook, etc. and I’m considering using the WordPress Social Sharing Optimization (WPSSO) plugin. I installed it, and upon activation, I got one error: “At least one of your theme header templates does not support Schema markup of the webpage head section.” The plugin offers to update the header with the Schema markup, but before I do this, I wanted to see if anyone else has used this extension with the GeneratePress theme. (Don’t ask me why I’m using a live install of WP instead of testing locally. That’s another story.)

  • Hi mpmorris,

I didn´t use that plugin yet, but maybe it would be a good idea to create a backup of your theme, then allow the plugin to do those updates on the header.
If something goes wrong, you can replace it with the backup.

Also, if you are going to modify anything from your theme, you may want to do it thru a child theme. If you don´t do this, every customization will be gone after theme updates.

If you don´t know how to create/use a child theme you can check it here.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi there,

GP is fully schema integrated, so I wonder what the plugin is looking for. Would be good to get clarification from the plugin author. If it’s something useful and proper that GP is missing I would love to add it.

Alternatively, I know a lot of people using this plugin with GP successfully: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/wonderm00ns-simple-facebook-open-graph-tags/

    Let me know 🙂
