I’ve deployed Paid Member and Profile Builder and everything seems to work but have 2 problems:

If a user does not complete payment, they are still created as a user in the database and can still log in and access protected content – how can I prevent this from happening?

If I leave “anyone can register” unchecked, it appears users can still register and get created – if I check this box, bots come around and add random users with Russian email addresses. What is your advice on this point?

(running WP 4.9.8 – paid member 1.7.7 – profile builder 2.9.0 on Cannyon Theme 0.0.19)

    Thank you

  • Hello Ferd,

It is normal for the user to be created before the payment attempt is made. It’s the registered user that makes a payment, it can’t be done by an unregistered user and register only after the payment is completed.

This being said, note that if the payment is pending, the membership to the subscription plan is also pending.

So the user will not have access to content that should be available only to that subscription.

But pay attention, there is also a content restriction in Profile Builder. It is recommended to disable that one, and only use the content restriction in Paid Member Subs.

And regarding the second question, if you are using the Profile Builder registration form, you may leave that box unchecked. We are bypassing that setting exactly for preventing spam bot access.

Please let me know if this helps.
