Anyone Recommend User Friendly

I am making the jump from Goggle Blogger to WordPress. I am not too worried about my previous content right now. I am tired of the lack of control that I have with Google.

Can anyone recommend some user friendly tutorials.

What kind of programming am I going to need to learn? Any sites that are great to learn at.
