Just tried the plugin in with some drafts. As soon as the plugin is uninstalled the urls divert back to numerical order.

Does anyone have a solution to keeping these urls in the categories chosen when Hikari was installed?

Unfortunately there is no known solution.

It baffles me why WordPress didn’t include this functionality years ago. It’s extremely poor permalink management that WP uses the category with the lowest ID and that the user cannot assign the preferred category for the permalink.
