api blocked

I have wordpress set up on a private server. The server is blocking the wordpress servers from accessing my site. For example i get an error when trying to add an api in for akismet, stats, or capatcha they do not work. I get this error (transport error – HTTP status code was not 200) when trying to insert the api key into the wordpress.com stats. My hosing service wants to know what ips to allow through the firewall. Can you pleas help me make some sense of this?
