API users must switch to Merchant API

    I keep getting Google API Migration emails regarding the Google Content API for Shopping which i set up long time ago using your guide.

    Content Google is officially retiring the Content API for Shopping (the one you are currently using) on August 18, 2026. It is being replaced by the new Merchant API.

    Is it safe to migrate? Should I ignore these emails for now?

    Hi @pooltech and @kingbolo,

    Thank you for reaching out and we can totally understand the confusion.

    For now, you can continue using the Content API for Shopping as shown in our documentation here:
    https://rextheme.com/docs/auto-sync-product-feed-to-gmc/#1-toc-title

    At this moment, our plugin doesn’t yet support the new Merchant API, so there’s no action required on your end right now. The Content API will remain functional until Google officially retires it in August 2026.

    That said, we’re actively working on Merchant API compatibility. Once it’s ready, we’ll release an update so you can switch over smoothly without breaking your existing setup.

    So you can ignore those emails for now. We’ll guide you when it’s actually time to migrate.

    Support for the new Merchant API is already in our backlog and being planned carefully. Once the update is ready and released, we’ll make sure to announce it here so you’ll know right away and can switch over safely without any disruption.

    Thanks for checking in on this.

    Just to update you, support for the new Merchant API is already in development on our end, and we’re in the final stages now. It should be released very soon.

    We completely agree it’s better to have this ready ahead of time rather than waiting until the last minute, and that’s exactly what we’re aiming for.

    We’ll make an announcement here as soon as it’s live so you can switch over smoothly.
