• A client handed me their print designer’s specs, and the font they use in all of their materials is a newer Apple system font, Bangla MN.

I have been unable to find any info about purchasing this font for commercial use on the Web.

Has anyone successfully used an Apple font on a WP site?

TIA for any guidance you might have!

  • You CAN NOT use an Apply system font for ANY commercial use. Web or Print.
Have your client purchase a web use license for a commercial font. OR have them select a Google webfont.

DMCA Copyright laws will make the host take the site down if there is illegal font usage.

This is kind of a law question and not something that we can answer.

I am aware of that – however, Bangla MN is apparently a font developed by an independent designer, Muthu Nedumaran, and I assume that he licensed it to Apple for their commercial use. Banga MN is free for non-commercial use, if you check around the web.

After a LOT of research, I do not think that there is a commercial license available for this font. We will most likely fint some commercial font that looks more or less the same, and go with that instead…

I don’t see a Google font that looks too much like Bangla MN.

This seems like something you need to discuss with the designer.
