Did you test the latest version? I’ll test this out later on

Yes. I also have checked the logfiles on the server and there was only sent one email instead of two. I also have checked the log for a booking where the systems has sent two e-mails and they were also visible in the server logfiles.

I verified the code in a older version (2.0.80) and the latest one (2.1.5).
In the older version: if you have auto-approve then only the approve-mail was sent (no payment mail)
In the newer version: if you have auto-approve then the approve-mail is sent if you want approval mails, otherwise (if no approval mail) the mail is sent for payment (if you want payment mails).
So it works as designed 🙂

Hi Franky,
It doesn’t work as you describe above:
My EME settings:
Enable approved RSVP e-mails = On
Enable paid RSVP e-mails = On
Event settings:
Auto approve when paid = On
Approve is needed = On
Payment mail is sent, approve mail is not sent.
Why is this changed? I really need payment mail AND approve mail

Like I said: it didn’t change. It behaves exactly as before (but now you can tune it a bit).
There’s no use in telling people that their booking is approved *and* then another mail to tell them it was paid (because the payment caused the approval).
You can use the pending mail of course …
