Hello. I am brand new to WordPress. I have installed 2.0 (downloaded a few hours ago) and am currently using the default theme. I looked documentation and previous posts but was unable to find my answer. My apologies if this has already been covered.

If I am understanding things properly, a “Contributor” is able to create posts. These posts must then be approved by an Admin to get published to the home page.

I can’t get the Admin account to see posts/drafts/anything from the Contributor account. How does a Contributor’s post get approved by an Admin?

In other words, as an Admin, I have a “Save and Continue Editing” button, “Save” and “Publish”. As a Contributor I have “Save and Continue Editing” and “Save”. Unfortunately, I don’t see any sort of “Send to Admin” type button.

Does this exist? Am I doing something completely wrong?

I’m trying to create a site where certain users are able to create posts. These posts are then approved (published) or rejected (deleted) by an admin.

Thanks (in advance) for your help.

  • Did you try to create (Save) a post while logged in as Contributor? and then log in as Admin and look around?

    Thanks for the quick response.

Yes, that is what I have been doing. Two different accounts but I seem to be missing some sort of notification or “moderate these saved drafts” link (when logged in as Admin).

    -gc

When logged in as admin > Manage
You should see your own darfts (if any) and on a new line:
    Others’ drafts

Open it for editing and for “approval” click Publish.

Thank you very much. Works great.

    My suggestion.

Perhaps this would be easier to find if there was some notice of the number of queued/pending drafts (similar to the “Awaiting Moderation (x)” link for moderating comments).

    Thanks again for your help.

I’m in the same boat – i’d actually love some type of plugin /feature that would email either a user, list of users, or specific emails whenever a contributor’s post was waiting for moderation.

Any ideas on sch a plugin?

Me too please! I place a query on Authors postings and my wish for the Administrator to get an automatic email in the same way that I do for comment postings- http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/58439?replies=1

To be specific the user levels I have assigned are Authors not contributors due to the need for a high level of access to the management of blog.

Anyone know of such a plugin or solution to this?

I am having the same problem, except that my user’s posts DO NOT show up as drafts in the admin account.

    This is at http://www.peneloperoom.com.

Where else should I be looking or what can I do?

Ah, as soon as I posted (of course) I figured it out. The default on my WordPress installation for user posts is to mark them “private.” I had several users email me about their posts, but I could never see them.

Ah, they were marked PRIVATE so I couldn’t see them.

So, make sure that your users do not have the “private” button checked if they are ready for you to edit and publish.
