The 4th attempt was finally successful – but it shouldn’t be this hard.
@steerage250
I think there is a download problem, could you try downloading the backup with FTP / cPanel hosting or Firefox then try again?
Thank you!
I have downloaded the file from Dropbox multiple times, and each time, the file size is exactly the same and it is still corrupt.
As an experiment just now, I created a test job (tar file) to do a big backup (ie 1GB) to /uploads/backwpup folder, then downloaded with FileZilla – corrupt.
@steerage250
hmm did you try with Zip instead?
btw, the default Windows archive manager in Windows got an issue with open Tar file, I would recommend using official Tar for windows instead or using Winrar.

I gave up on using zip because when I opened the archive in Winzip, it didn’t show all the files.
I use the latest WinRAR to open the archive.

hmm that’s strange, I would recommend you split the job into smaller ones to avoid this kind of issue. I think the job has been terminated during backup, which was caused by the hosting.
Maybe try BackWPUp -> Settings -> Job tab -> Reduce server load -> choose medium or maximum then run it again.
since we haven’t heard back from you, I’m going to mark it as resolved.
In case you’re still having problems, feel free to let us know 😉
Please don’t mark it as resololved.
I am on holidays in outback Australia with dodgy internet and have not been able to test your suggestion. It might be another few weeks before I can.
