Archives selection

I am using the archieve drop down list selection from:

http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Template_Tags/get_archives

But whenever a month is selected from the list, when it displays the posts for that month, the list reverts back to the ‘By Month’ but still showing the posts.. Is there anyway I can keep it selecting the Month which was selected?
