I have a WordPress site up and running on a topend website package where I have unlimited webspace and can open several mysql databases etc. My girlfriend has now bought a domain name with the intention of having her own WordPress site hosted by me. I have got to grips with FTP uploading and all that jazz but the only thing I am unsure about is if I need to create another seperate databse or if I can point a second installation of wordpress at the one currently created?

  • If you used a different table prefix, you could use a single database for both blogs, but given that you can have several databases, I don’t see the point.

I have now created a second database, completed a second fresh install of wordpress to seperate folder within my girlfriends domain in my webspace and everything appears to be running smoothly.

    Thanks for the advice 🙂
