    Hi,

I am running WordPress on a Standalone Windows Server with IIS and MySQL using Argent theme. I have development mode running.

Under Recent Projects on the home page the links have become broken and now throw up an error “Oops! That page can’t be found.” but I created them and they were there.

How do I get them back? where have they disappeared to?

  • Hi @benpiddington!

It may be difficult to troubleshoot this one without being able to see the site. If you hover over the links in your menu, does the URL match the one shown for the page that is holding the projects? Or a different page (perhaps one that has been moved or trashed)?

Hi. This is the issue – I have no idea if the links are wrong just that they did work and now they do not. Just gives “Server Error”

Where are the pages stored for the 3 buttons under Recent Projects? Is there a widget or something that has been removed??

Side note @benpiddington Please do not ask anyone here to look at your server directly. Anyone who takes you up on that here risks getting into real trouble here. That’s going too far.

If you need that level of support then please consider posting to http://jobs.wordpress.net/ instead.

    Sorry.

Anyway – if someone could guide me on how I change the back end to the links for the “Recent Projects” tabs and get them working – I’d really appreciate guidance….

I have gone through everything within the theme and there seems to be nowhere to fix them.

Surely it is basic? these links seem an integral part of the theme and they do no work.

I have been researching this (as expected) and the Portfolio tab off the main menu in WordPress is now missing…

Which I believe is the culprit to these pages disappearing. Does anyone know why the Portfolio tab has gone?

Sounds like you may have deactivated either:

    – The Custom Content Types module in Jetpack, or
    – Jetpack itself

Check to make sure that the Jetpack plugin is active and the Custom Content Types module is turned on.

Thanks for your reply. I am certain Jetpack is enabled…

I cannot do anything with Custom Content Types because when I go to settings and writing there are no options there???

I am running Jetpack in Dev mode.

Could you poss give me instructions on how I reinstall Jetpack on a Standalone server. I cannot seem to find a way to remove and reinstall it within WordPress – (Maybe this will give me the Portfolio section back?)

    (@benpiddington)

Ok. I have managed to uninstall and reinstall to no avail.

However I can confirm it is due to the “Customer Content Types” not being enabled. I know this because it says “To use Portfolios, please activate the Jetpack plugin’s Custom Content Types module.” At the top of the Plugins page.

When I go to Jetpack and settings, then Writing though…. there is no option to turn this on.

So this is what I need to do. How do I turn on the Customer Content Types if the option is not there?

Sorry to keep posting but I am trying to resolve this whilst writing…

I have another revelation… So I have enabled Customer Content Types within the dashboard settings (not jetpack, but WordPress – it was blacklisted.)

This makes the option appear in Setting for Jetpack. However when I go to Enable it – I get this error.

“Custom Content Types failed to activate. SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data”

Any ideas how to remove Line 1 Column 1??

I’d definitely suggest getting in touch with the Jetpack team to find out why you’re having trouble activating the Custom Content Types module:

    https://jetpack.me/contact-support/

They’ll be able to troubleshoot with you directly to sort this out.

Let us know how it goes!
